It turns out I was having a completely different problem. If the busybox path is in the $PATH variable ahead of the standard system bin directories, the installer.sh and bootdeb scripts try to run the busybox versions of mount, modprobe, etc instead of the Android ones. This will produce exactly the errors Amon_RA (and I) had. Everything seems to be working properly now.

I installed Debian on JF1.43 ADP1.1 and it worked just fine. The phone started out as a normal store-bought G1, but as far as I know once you install ADP it's the same as a Dev phone.

I'm getting the same list of errors that have been posted by several people. I saw a suggestion that there is a problem with some anroid versions. I'm on RC8 so maybe that's the catch.

Anyway I'd just like to know what you get while it's running - does it take over the phone or is the android UI still active.

What's actually happening when you run it - I don't see how a debian kernel can be running on the hardware at the same time as the android specific kernel.

Is anybody actually using this - if so what debian compatible stuff actually runs - is there anything beyond the universal unix command set in a shell?

hey man i get to the debian and when i put the code
bootdeb it tell me is not recognize so i put this code

# su bootdeb

and it takes me but it goes in an error it doesn't completely run it automatically shuts debian down

so canany one tell me what is going wrong i got jf v 1.42 installed rc33 you think that might be the problem
