Yeah, additionally I also have the 12.29 JF firmware, as opposed to the 14.11. Would this be what is hampering my success and whether or not it is so how would I go about updating it?

The baseband actually shouldn't have any effect on your ability to execute installer.sh, but you should update it anyway.

Do an ls like Ghostwalker said, and make sure the file's there. Also make sure you're root. Then try:

./installer.sh
sh installer.sh
su installer.sh
sh ./installer.sh
su ./installer.sh

One of these should work, you don't need to try them all once one of them does...

Nope. Still not loading. I've got the new firmware/update and its still running into the same problem. I'm going to recopy the files to my phone to make sure they're not corrupted or something. I'm using Terminal Emulator on the G1, this is correct right (because you use the word Terminal in your walkthrough, just making sure there's not some other external app that I need to install).

The following is what I just attempted
QUOTE:
./installer.sh: not found

sh installer.sh
sh: Can't open installer.sh

su installer.sh
sh: Can't open installer.sh

sh ./installer.sh
sh: Can't open ./installer.sh

su ./installer.sh
sh: Can't open ./installer.sh

if you do a ls (just type ls - its the same a 'dir' on a windoze box)

Can you see the file ?

If you can then this is very wierd.

Thoughts anyone?

By this you mean ls /sdcard/debian, correct?

If so I get the following:
QUOTE:
ls /sdcard/debian
bootdeb debian.img fsrw installer.sh mountonly unionfs

~_~

If it's any help at all (since it seems that a lot of this operation is at least partially OS-based from the non-phone side) I've got an XP Pro and a Linux Mint 6 (Main) that I'm currently using, so if we need any DOS or terminal stuff to be run I can do whatever :s

You shouldn't have to type 'ls /sdcard/debian' because you should be IN /sdcard/debian. The 'cd /sdcard/debian' line in the instructions does this. If you're not in that directory, then there's your problem (or at least part of it).

I was in it in the previous one, just didn't think to go back.

I just did
QUOTE:
su
cd /sdcard/debian
./installer.sh
and get
./installer.sh: permission denied

Alright, after rebooting and re-descending into the folder, I tried sh installer.sh and we're in bidness :}!

PS: How many pings does it send to Google when you ping it haha?

Great write up; I'm up and running now. Thanks!
Was having issues with other tuts written for RC30 while running RC33.

Just a note...

I ran into a problem running the install script as it would hang. Did a cat installer.sh and saw the rm commands on dirs that did not exist (fresh debian install). I ended up just manually entering the commands (which worked perfectly!) and now all good. If anyone else sees no activity after running the script command installer.sh, this might be hanging u up. Maybe a little if exist - then logic would solve it, but I'm not up on my scripting commands.

Thanks again and great job.
