Just curious, but I noticed a few things about the attached screenshot...
-the CPU performance is MUCH better than mine- any way I can fix this?
-the background is different as well, looks very nice compared to the one that came with my installation. How would I change it to that background?

i keep getting and error saying i don't have enough memory when installing lxde. My sd card has 3gb free and the phone has 20mb free. I'm also not sure if the problem is because i'm running jf rc33

Did you re-size your debian.img, or are you still using the 750MB one? You have to re-size if you haven't. The original post has a link to the directions to do so.

hi I'm new to the forums. and i would like to say great information found so far. I did however have a few questions before i start this.
First off is this GUI usable, fast enough for decent use.
second question will this allow an install of browsers such as firefox, and if so will i be able to install flash 10 to that browser. If this is possible i will be installing right away. Im shocked there is no video showing the GUI and how it runs. anyway keep up the good work.

I wonder if i can use a virtual machine to implement the re-size because i don't have linux. I'm going to try out VMware Player.

so i was doing fine with everything up until i hit this part

QUOTE:
comment out the line for xsession:

#/etc/X11/xsession

add these two lines:

icewm &
lxsession

or if you decided to go for IceWM instead:

icewm &
xterm

save the file (trackball then 'o', and exit nano (trackball then 'x'.

Then restart an x windows session by vncserver ( you should kill it after you are done with x-windows later on).

This next bit does some housekeeping and sets up the VNC service each time you boot your debian shell - saves messing about everytime!

Now back inside your debian prompt you need to edit your /root/.bashrc file

cd /root
nano .bashrc

Add the following near the top of the file:

export USER=root
cd /
rm -r -f tmp
mkdir tmp
cd /
vncserver -geometry 480x320

what does it mean to comment out the line and where on bashrc do i put the export user stuff because when i type it overwrites the other stuff it wont let me just making another empty line
